Is Wix Good for a Clinic Website? An Honest 2026 Review
Wix is where a lot of clinic websites start. It's easy to sign up, the templates look good, and you can drag anything anywhere on the page. We look at a lot of Wix clinic sites when we audit a clinic's marketing, and we see the same handful of mistakes on them again and again. One thing worth knowing up front: we have a website builder made specifically for clinics, so we're a competitor.
Is Wix good for a clinic website? It's a decent, easy-to-use website builder: you drag things where you want them and move them around until the page looks right. That freedom is also where the problems start. Pages that look fine on a desktop break on phones, and the technical side Google relies on (how your pages are organized, your page addresses, your headings, links that still work, and the behind-the-scenes code that describes your business) is left to you, so it can get missed. That's true for any business on Wix, and a clinic has a few extra gaps on top. If you enjoy designing and looking after your own site, Wix can work. If you'd rather the site look after itself, we'd point you to our own Cliniverse Sites at $99 a month.
Below: what each Wix plan costs, what it does well, the mistakes we find on Wix clinic sites, and the builders we'd pick instead.

What Wix Costs for a Clinic
Wix has a free plan and 4 paid plans. The Wix pricing page shows these prices for yearly billing, paid up front, plus tax. Paying month to month costs more, and there's a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first purchase.
| Plan | Price a month (billed yearly) | People who can manage the site | Forms |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light | $17 | 2 | 4 |
| Core | $29 | 5 | 10 |
| Business | $39 | 10 | 25 |
| Business Elite | $159 | 100 | 75 |
The number of people who can manage the site is capped: on Light, that's you and one other person, so the owner, the front desk and whoever writes your blog posts won't all fit. Forms are capped too (4 on Light), which fills up fast once you have a contact form, a new patient form and a form or two for workshops or ad landing pages.
Every paid plan includes hosting, your own domain name and a free domain for the first year.
What Wix Does Well
The editor is the reason people pick Wix. You choose from more than 2,000 templates, or describe your clinic and let Wix's AI build a starting site, then drag text, photos and buttons wherever you want them. If you have an eye for design and like being in control of every detail, nothing on this list beats it.
Wix's search basics have caught up, too. Earlier versions of Wix had a poor reputation for Google, and you'll still read that online, but it's out of date. Today you can edit each page's title and description, Wix builds your sitemap, there's a redirect tool for old page addresses, and you can connect Google Search Console from inside the dashboard. Once you enter your business name and address, Wix adds the behind-the-scenes code that tells Google your homepage belongs to a local business at that address (Wix's guide).
If you stop paying, your site doesn't vanish: it goes back to a free wixsite.com address with Wix ads, and your content stays put (Wix's guide).
Where Wix Falls Short
When we audit a clinic's website and it's on Wix, the same problems come up. To check it wasn't only our impression, we went through a list of about 1,700 Canadian clinic websites, found 183 built on Wix, and looked closely at 30 physio, chiro and massage clinic sites picked at random. The numbers below come from those sites.
The Freedom That Makes Wix Easy Is Where Things Break
Being able to put anything anywhere is great on a big desktop screen. The catch is phones, which is how a lot of patients will find you.
In the classic Wix editor, the phone version of your site is a separate layout made from your desktop one. Changes you make on desktop flow down to the phone layout, but not always where you'd expect. Wix's own help page warns that text added on desktop "may overlap with other elements on your live site" (Wix's guide). Galleries and product lists grow as you add to them, and Wix's developer docs say that growth "can shift other elements on the page."
That's how you end up with this, from a clinic site we looked at: the product grid grew, and the menu ended up sitting on top of the prices.

Wix launched a newer editor in 2026 that adjusts to phone screens on its own, but it sits next to the classic editor, and existing sites stay on the classic one (Wix's guide).
Wix's Technical Side Gets Missed
Google doesn't see your design. It reads what's underneath: a main heading that says what each page is about, page addresses that describe the page, links that go somewhere, and code that describes your business. Wix leaves all of that to whoever builds the page, and when you're focused on how things look, or you've never had to think about it, it slips.
Each page should have one main heading. Wix lets you set any text as a main heading, so it's easy to end up with several or none. Only 15 of the 30 homepages we checked had exactly 1. Another 6 had none, and 9 had between 2 and 7, including one where the clinic's name was split across 3 of them.
When you add or copy a page in Wix, it gets an address like /blank-1 or /copy-of-chiropractor until you rename it. 17 of the 30 sites linked to pages like that: one had /blank, /blank-1, /blank-2 and /blank-3 in its menu, and another had /copy-of-brampton for its Brampton location. An address like /chiropractor tells patients and Google what the page is. Renaming it later means setting up a redirect, so the old address doesn't turn into an error page.
What Google reads about your business: once you enter your name and address, Wix adds local business code to your homepage and stops there. It covers your main location only and describes you as a generic business. Of the 30 sites, 8 gave Google no business details at all and 20 described themselves only as a generic local business. Only 1 listed opening hours, and another gave Google the address and phone number of a different location than the one on the page. That information helps a clinic show up in search results and AI answers for "physio near me" and "sciatica treatment Oakville".
Page titles slip too: 9 of the 30 had homepage titles starting with "Home |", and that title is the first thing Google shows in search results. And Wix doesn't tell you when a page you link to stops existing. We only checked the links on each homepage, and one site still linked to 3 blog posts that had been deleted.
The Mistakes We Find on Wix Clinic Sites
The copyright year: of the 22 sites that showed one, only 6 said 2026, and 12 showed 2024 or earlier, including 3 on 2019 and 1 on 2007. Another 2 still showed 2035, the placeholder year Wix's templates ship with ("© 2035 by" and the template's name). The year is plain text, and Wix doesn't update it for you.
Social icons that link to Wix: Wix's templates come with social icons already in the footer, and we checked 8 of its health and wellness templates: the icons link to Wix's own Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts until someone swaps them. Across all 183 Wix clinic sites, 18 still had at least one, so a patient tapping the Facebook icon lands on Wix's page instead of the clinic's.
Smaller leftovers turned up too. Across the 183, 4 sites had an email link pointing to info@mysite.com, the template's placeholder address, and on one of them the email you see is the clinic's but the link behind it is Wix's.
None of these will sink your Google rankings on their own. But a patient comparing 3 clinics notices a 2019 copyright or an icon that opens Wix's Facebook page, and it reads as a clinic that doesn't keep on top of the details.
A Clinic Has a Few More Gaps
Everything above applies to any business on Wix. A clinic has extra gaps on top, because nothing in Wix knows what a clinic is. Its health templates are a layout and some stock photos.
There's no practitioner page that pulls in each person's credentials and booking link, no page type for the conditions you treat, and nothing that keeps your services, team and locations linked to each other. You build each of those pages by hand and keep them in step yourself. None of the 30 sites told Google they were a physio, chiro or massage clinic. The writing is yours too, and Wix's AI doesn't know your college's advertising rules, so nothing stops it writing "the best physio in Burlington" or promising results your college doesn't allow.
The Upkeep Is Yours
Wix gives you tools, and the work of using them is yours. Nobody tells you when a link on your site breaks, when your Google Business Profile shows different hours than your website, or when a page Google used to show starts returning an error. Wix's SEO checklist walks you through setup once, and after that it's on you to know what to check and to keep doing it.
Moving Off Wix Takes Work
Wix says your content belongs to you, but the site itself can only live on Wix's servers (Wix's guide). You can't download it and move it to another host. If you switch builders later, your pages and blog posts get copied across, and every old page address needs a redirect so your Google rankings follow you. Wix blog posts live at addresses like yoursite.com/post/..., which the new builder almost certainly won't match.
Is Wix Good for SEO?
Yes, for the basics. Page titles, descriptions, a sitemap, redirects and a Search Console connection are all there, and a clinic that fills them in well can rank on Wix. What holds Wix clinic sites back is rarely the platform. It's the work that's left to the owner: one main heading per page, page addresses that describe the page, the code Google reads about your clinic, pages for each service and condition, and a Google Business Profile that matches the site. Wix gives you a place to do all of that and leaves you to do it.
A Note on Booking
If your clinic books through Jane, booking won't decide this. Jane's booking page can't be embedded on any website, so on Wix (or anywhere else) your Book button opens your Jane booking page. Jane's own guide shows how to add that button on Wix (Jane's guide). If you're also weighing Jane's own website builder, we reviewed Jane Websites too.
Wix Bookings is a different thing: Wix's own scheduler, for businesses that don't have booking software. It handles appointments, staff calendars and reminders, but it isn't built for a clinic. There's no charting, and we found nothing in Wix's documentation about insurance or direct billing. That matches what we found: none of the 30 Wix clinic sites we checked used Wix Bookings, and 16 linked out to Jane. If you're already on Jane, Juvonno or ClinicSense, you'll keep booking there and link to it from Wix.
Wix Alternatives for Clinics
Which one fits depends on how much of the work you want to do yourself.
Cliniverse Sites: Made for Clinics, With the Upkeep Handled
Cliniverse Sites is ours, and it's what we'd recommend to a clinic that wants a site that looks after itself. It's $99 a month CAD plus tax, with no contract and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
You answer onboarding questions about your clinic, profession, team, services and the conditions you treat, and the AI writes the whole site with your province's and profession's advertising rules loaded in from the first draft. After that, you change things by typing ("add a page for TMJ") or by clicking any text and editing it.
It's the opposite trade-off to Wix. You can't drag things anywhere you like or edit the code, because every page is built from sections made to work on phones, so nothing ends up on top of anything else. In return, the parts Wix leaves to you are done:
- Pages for your practitioners, services and the conditions you treat, linked together, with each practitioner's Book button going straight to their schedule
- The behind-the-scenes code Google reads for your clinic, practitioners, services, conditions and FAQs on every page
- A nightly check for broken links and pages, with the clear-cut ones fixed for you
- A direct connection to your Google Business Profile: it's checked against your website every day, you pick the right version when your hours, phone or services don't match, and with one setting on, hours and phone changes on your site go to Google too
- An AI that reads your Search Console data and suggests changes to move up, then makes them when you say yes
- Social icons that only appear once you add your own links, and a copyright year that changes on its own
- As many team members and form submissions as you need, with every enquiry on a Leads page
- A Results page with your Google searches, Google profile calls and direction requests, site traffic and bookings
Because every Sites clinic is on the same templates, when we improve something (faster pages, better code for Google, a fix), every site gets it at once, with nothing for you to update. Moving from Wix is built in too: the importer brings across your blog posts and builds the redirects from your old Wix addresses.
WordPress and Elementor: Full Control Over a Site You Own
Outside of Cliniverse Sites, this is what we'd recommend. And if you want complete control over every part of your site, we'd point you here over Sites too. Build on WordPress with Elementor, a drag-and-drop page builder. WordPress is free, Elementor has a free version, and Elementor Pro starts at $60 USD a year. Hosting is about $10 to $30 USD a month or more, depending on the host.
You own the site outright, you can move it to any host, and there's a plugin for almost anything a clinic needs. The trade-off is upkeep: WordPress and its plugins need regular updates, and when something breaks, it's on you or whoever you hire. Our guide to building a WordPress website walks through it.
Squarespace: If It's Between Squarespace and Wix
We wouldn't pick either for a clinic, but if you've narrowed it down to these two, we'd lean Squarespace. It's more structured (you build each page from sections and arrange blocks on a grid inside them), which makes it easier to use and harder to break. Wix gives you more freedom. Either way, the technical work and the upkeep are yours, so pick the editor you like working in. Squarespace's Basic plan is $25 USD a month, or $19 USD a month billed yearly (Squarespace pricing).
Wix vs the Alternatives Side by Side
| Wix | Squarespace | WordPress + Elementor | Cliniverse Sites | |

When Wix Still Makes Sense
If you're a solo practitioner who likes designing, wants full say over every pixel and doesn't mind checking the phone version after each change, Wix is a reasonable choice, and the entry plans cost less than ours. The same goes if your site is a simple one-pager you'll rarely touch.
If you're staying on Wix, work through this list:
- Tap every social icon in your footer and make sure it opens your clinic's page, not Wix's.
- Check the copyright year in your footer, or replace it with your clinic name alone.
- Open your site on your phone and scroll every page, looking for text or buttons sitting on top of each other.
- Search your site for leftover template text: placeholder phone numbers, emails and addresses.
- Rename any page with an address like /blank-1 or /copy-of-..., and set up a redirect from the old address.
- Give every page one main heading, and its own title and description in Wix's SEO settings.
- Make sure your hours, phone and address match your Google Business Profile exactly.
Wix for Clinics: Frequently Asked Questions
Is Wix good for SEO?
For the basics, yes. You can edit page titles and descriptions, Wix builds your sitemap, and there's a redirect tool. What it won't do is tell Google you're a clinic, who your practitioners are or what you treat. That part, and the ongoing work, is up to you.
Can I put Jane booking on my Wix site?
You can add a Book button that opens your Jane booking page. Jane doesn't allow its booking page to be embedded on any website, so every builder links out to it.
How many people can edit a Wix site?
It depends on the plan: 2 on Light, 5 on Core, 10 on Business and 100 on Business Elite. Each person you invite takes a seat as soon as the invite goes out.
Does Wix update the copyright year automatically?
No. The year in Wix's templates is plain text, so it stays whatever you typed until you change it. You can add custom code or an app from the Wix App Market to update it.
Is Wix safe for patient health information?
Wix offers a health privacy setting on its Business and Business Elite plans, built around US rules, and turning it on switches off some apps and features. Whatever builder you use, keep health details out of your website forms and let patients share them in your booking or charting software.
What should I use instead of Wix?
Cliniverse Sites if you want a site made for clinics with the upkeep handled, and WordPress with Elementor if you want full control over a site you own. If you're choosing between Wix and Squarespace, we'd lean Squarespace for its simpler editor.
Can I move my Wix site to Cliniverse Sites?
Yes. The importer reads your Wix site, brings your blog posts across, and builds redirects from your old Wix page addresses so old links and search results land on the new pages.
Our Take on Wix for Clinics
Wix is a decent website builder for someone who wants to design and look after their own site. Its search basics are fine now, and the entry price is low. But the drag-and-drop freedom that makes it easy is also why so many Wix sites end up with menus sitting on top of content, /copy-of- page addresses, homepages with no main heading and 2019 copyright years. The technical work and the upkeep are yours, and a clinic has its own gaps on top: practitioner and condition pages, and your college's advertising rules.
If you'd rather the site look after itself, start with Cliniverse Sites. If you want to learn the rest of your clinic's marketing too, Cliniverse has courses, ready-to-use marketing templates and a community of clinic owners working on the same things. If you want full control, build on WordPress. And if you're staying on Wix, work through the list above.
